INKTOBER 2017

.....................................................................

This year we tried to participate for the first time at INKTOBER 2017.
Unfortunately due to commitments we have not been able to bring it to the end but we are quite satisfied with the designs that we have been able to achieve.

With the theme Yaoi we wanted to choose a different theme from the official (then maybe the next we will follow it.... we'll see).

The theme we set for ourselves was 【Boys x Flowers】.
It was nice to look for the most suitable flowers to accompany our characters and so we learned something more about their meanings.

You can also find them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and DeviantArt

DAY 1 : LOTUS

A symbol of spiritual regeneration, spiritual growth, resurrection, awareness of one's nature and strength, and the ability not to be contaminated by the "filthy" of this world. This flower, in fact, lives in stagnant areas with its roots rooted and anchored to the marshes, yet despite this, it manages to keep it clean, it blossoming flowers with  unassailable beauty, with petals and leaves that tend to be kept clean because hydrophobia.
For this drawing we use our OC as amodel, Keiji "Yuki" Sakamoto

DAY 2 : IVY

The ivy is associated with the vine, the other sacred plant for the god Dionysus.
Dionysus was also the god of innocence and carefree and ivy, with which he wrapped his head and wrapped his stick, was also given the meaning of innocence .
Dionysus was also regarded as the god of loving transport as well as mystical for which ivy well represents it. Indeed, in loving vocabulary, ivy represents the passion that drives loved ones to wrap each other like ivy on trunks of trees.
.Sacra Attis (Cibele's parable) symbolizes immortality. The ivy leaf is phallic and depicts the male trinity.
This plant in India, where it is considered the symbol of lust.
For this drawing we use our OC as amodel, Alessandro "Alex" Damiani

DAY 3 : HYDRANGEA

The origins of its meaning are probably due to the tormented love story between Philibert Commerson and his beautiful Hortense.
On the one hand, Philibert's gratitude for the love of Hortense, at the time already engaged, on the other hand, the abandonment of the young explorer from the beloved, on the road to the world, in order to protect their feelings. Since then, Hydrangea in the language of flowers has this dual significance.
For this drawing we use our OC as amodel, Célestin.

DAY 4 : OPIUM POPPY

In ancient Greece poppy was the symbol of oblivion and sleep, a symbol that accompanied the deities Thanatos, Hypnos and Morfeo.
In the language of flowers is a symbol of pride, consolation, slowness, confusion, eternal sleep and imagination.
Poppy owes its fame (and also this symbology) to opium poppy, from which morphine is derived.

DAY 5 : POENY

Peony flower is one of the most revered in the East for thousands of years as a bearer of fortune and marital happiness. Appearing, luxuriant, elegant , this flower embodies love and affection, prosperity, honor, value, nobility and, in full bloom, peace.
In Europe it is also called rose without plug and is a symbol of romantic love stories.
Red Peony is attributed to a significant more erotic.
For this drawing we use our OC as model, Katou Harumi.

DAY 6 : ORCHIDACEAE

This flower is a symbol of elegance, grace and harmony, but also the ambivalent meaning of being manly and feminine at the same time.
For centuries it has always been considered an aphrodisiac flower and used to prepare potions against sterility or in general for carnal love. So another meaning that hides the orchidaceae is sensuality and luxury. The blue orchidaceae is very rare and therefore represents the rarity, uniqueness and exclusivity. Moreover, for this color also represents spirituality and meditation.
For this drawing we use our OC as model, Vincent Russell.

DAY 7 : SUNFLOWERS

The meaning of the sunflower is related to the obvious physical characteristics of the flower, to its similarity to the shining sun.
Sunflower is the flower of being solar, lighting and vivacity.
As the sunflower follows the sun in its daily movement, so the one who gives the flower wants to follow, stay with the dear person for an important time of their own existence.
Sunflower can also express a deep sense of admiration, respect, and gratitude.
But it can also have the meaning of passionate Love or not reciprocated, thanks to the myth of Clizia and Apollo.
Apollo as god of the sun crossed the sky with his chariot, while the innocent nymph Clizia followed him incessantly with his gaze. Apollo, not interested in the love of beautiful nymph Clizia, turned her into a sunflower after nine days.

 DAY 8 : PHYSALIS ALKEKENGI

Physalis Alkekengi, also known as "The Chinese Lantern", in the language of flowers symbolizes deception and hidden virtues, is particularly appreciated for the sweet consistency of its fruits.
Since flowers wrap and defend small and delicate fruit, buried in their groves, can be the perfect symbol for protection.
Since flowers wrap and defend small and delicate fruit buried in their groves, they can be the perfect symbol for protection. Their flaming orange red color indicates a passion for life, friendship, endurance, vitality, fertility, and lust. For this it could also be an amulet for good luck
Japan, its seeds are used as part of the Festival Obon (Lantern Festival) as offerings to guide the souls of the dead. There is also an annual flower market, called "hozuki-ichi", held every year in Asakusa, around 9-10 July.
For this drawing we use our OC as model, Esra Şahin/Sulphur

 DAY 9 : LILIUM/ LILY

Among the flowers that can express very many meanings, mostly positive, we also find the lily.
The white lily is a flower known since antiquity. For the Greeks it was even a sacred symbol.
The classic white lily means purity, candor and virginity.
This flower, in remote times, was given to people of high rank, nobles and sovereigns, and this gift indicated a kind of blind submission to the king. This symbolism has then shifted to a sentimental field, where the gift of this flower to a woman indicates the total and complete "loving submission" of man to his woman's desires. When your boyfriend gives you a bunch of lilies he is telling you, "You are my queen."

DAY 10 : BABYLON WILLOW / WEEPING WILLOW

The weeping willow has multiple meanings by country. In the East, for example, it has a positive connotation and represents eternal life, immortality, and spirit. In China, it is linked to life, longevity, but also to kindness and patience. The plant is also the symbol of beauty, femininity, and the joys of love.
In the West, however, it has a rather negative connotation associated with the particular conformation of the willow with branches and leaves reaching to the ground and oscillating depending on the intensity of the wind. Here the plant symbol recalls pain, sadness, weakness, and mourning.
In the medieval period, it was believed that, being related to female gods and witches, it had the power to empower evil.
The Jewish population saw the plant as a symbol of the arrival of adversity and misfortune; the ancient Greeks as a symbol of death and mourning.
In ancient Greece the Salice was considered to be the tree in connection with the afterlife.
According to Christianity, however, the weeping willow assumed the meaning of chastity and purity.
For this drawing we created a merman character.

DAY 11 : SAKURA

Every spring, the occasion called hanami (literally means "look at the flowers"), the Japanese enjoy the ephemeral beauty of sakura, one of the symbols of Japan.
The Hanami is in fact the celebration of the rebirth of nature, which is best expressed by cherry blossoms, but also by the awareness of their fallen nature. The cherry blossom in fact flowers in a short time and equally fast leaves the tree to reconcile to the ground. The observation of the spectacle represented by the fall of flowers urges the Japanese to reflect on the ephemeral value of life.
The cherry blossom, delicate and fragile, but at the same time tenacious in its perfection, represents the beauty and caducity of men in the world.
In addition, the idea of rebirth and goodwill represented by flowering is associated with an important period as April, when the school year ends and many Japanese students leave the school to enter the world of university and work.
Sakura, in its perfection and tenacity, can only be associated with the Japanese warrior. In Bushido, the perfect rider must possess all the characteristics that Sakura exalts in its extreme harmony.

DAY 12 : ADONIS

Adonis takes its name from Adonis, a mythological character of particular beauty.
In Greek mythology Adonis had been pierced by a wild boar from Ares, jealous of Aphrodite's interest for him. In the Latina variant, to protect him from Mars he was concealed by Prosperina, goddess of hell, who fell in love with him. The goddess contended him and Zeus decided one day that young Adonis would have lived between the living and the dead.
From the drops of blood flowing from Adonis' wound the plant was born and the species with the red petals is called Adonis' Flower because of its color that draws the drops of blood.
In the language of flowers, it symbolizes "gentle memories" or "a painful memory" and represents a way to make it clear to the beloved person that always takes it into his heart, regardless of his current relationships.

DAY 13 : ROSE

Rose is the flower to be donated for excellence and each variety brings with it a different message. Rose for centuries is the symbol of love, devotion, admiration, beauty, and perfection. Rosa also symbolizes the secret and reveals it with delicacy. The well-closed rose bud is also incarnating chastity as the rose blossom represents youthful beauty.
Many of the world's cultures use the Rose as a ragalo or as an ornament for several anniversaries, first of all that of the Valentine's Day, but also wedding celebrations and the anniversary of Mother's Day.
In addition, depending on the petals red color, Rose is used to express different emotions. Purple Rose, for example, is a promise of eternal and solemn love, that red fire means passion, while that carmine color symbolizes erotic fantasies.

DAY 14 : TULIP

Tulip is the true symbol of perfect love, honest, eternal and disinterested, and not pink, at least according to what literature and ancient folk legends give us.
Rosa always symbolizes a secret passion or jealousy or love while the Tulip alludes to the perfect relationship
In the Ottoman Empire it was a symbol of wealth and power, but also of intimacy and tenderness, but with its shades, as well as love, depending on the person can be lived in a thousand different ways and evoke as many sensations.
The yellow tulip in the specific remembers the sun: a perfect gift for a loving, carefree, and warm love, made by a disinhibited person and with joy of living.
